Return Together - Sermon Jan. 13

Joel 2:15-17

It seems that as a church, we often find it easier to gather together for times of praise than for times of penitence, for celebration rather than confession, to express gratitude for all the marvelous things God has done rather than grief for all the miserable things we have done. We as a congregation need to return to God together as a unified group. The people of First Christian Church, Athens Texas are to assemble together at the church building with our hearts torn, ready to receive God’s mercy. He is not looking for us to come together half-hearted but with our whole heart — the whole congregation of all ages and backgrounds in one place at one time no exceptions and no excuses. It’s simple: if God requires it, we must do it.
