Have you ever been in a group of people, and they're all talking to one another, and you're right there with them, but they seem to ignore you? We tend to do that same thing with God. We go about our daily lives — even sometimes in our church activities— as if he's not even there. God wants more than just a Sunday morning religious ritual from his people. He even wants more than your mere obedience. He wants your devotion. He wants your heart. He wants you to look at him while he's talking to you. This is where the journey to a deeper life begins: turning your eyes toward him — acknowledging his presence— focused on his presence.
Psalm 27:8 — My heart has heard you say, "Come and talk with me." And my heart responds, "Lord, I am coming."
