FROM YOUR PASTOR…

The Message Sunday was about RECONCILIATION – that our ministry is one of reconciliation.  Jesus’ life and death and resurrection brought reconciliation between man and God  but now according to 2 Cor. 5  we have been given the Ministry of Reconciliation as the Church.   Therefore our ministry as a Church and as individuals is given to us and our job is be part of any ministry that seeks to bring others into contact with God and his love for us.  So this week on Wednesday evening August 18th and Friday evening  August 20th we have that opportunity.

THIS WEDNESDAY evening we will be serving Hot Dogs and giving out specially made bags by some of the ladies of the church to parents and students of the  4th and 5th grade of Athens Intermediate school beginning at 5 PM.  (We will be on their

campus).

THIS FRIDAY evening at 5PM we will have the opportunity to do the same with 1st and 2nd grade students at South Athens right from our Church parking lot next to South Athens.  These two events are the Children’s Ministry’s attempt (led by Barbara Railsback), to reach out to parents and students who have no church home and invite them to be part of our children’s ministry at FCC.   Please pray for success in reaching out to the un-churched and that God will bless our efforts to reach out to others.

The Faith Renewal Event led by Dr. John Cunyus will be held on September 12, 13 and 14 (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday).  You can read about John at   www.johncunyus .com     He is an accomplished Author, Speaker, Pastor, Father, and has spoken in many different churches and denominations even though his roots are Disciples of Christ.

Verse of the Day
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls for he has no one to help him up.
